Donna Allen hails from Key West in Florida.
She recorded two highly regarded albums in the late 1980's, namely 1986's 'Perfect Timing' and 'Heaven On Earth', which was released two years later.
Donna was, at one stage, a cheerleader for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Prior to her solo career, Donna performed, firstly, in the group Hi-Octane and then joining the ranks of the group, Trama.
trama - 1977
Trama released one album in 1977, which featured Donna's vocals, simply entitled 'Trama' on the TK Productions imprint.
Donna then formed Donna Allen & Company and performed around the Tampa area.
She was also a background vocalist for the singer Gloria Estefan, when she was part of the Miami Sound Machine, whom she collaborated alongside for nearly nine years.
perfect timing - 1986 / heaven on earth - 1988
In 1986 she released 'Perfect Timing' (produced by Lou Pace, recorded and mixed in Miami Beach, Florida and Mastered at Masterdisks, New York by Bob Ludwig) on the Portrait imprint, the title track becoming popular on the U.K. Soul Radio stations.
Other singles included, 'Sweet Somebody', 'Satisfied' (which went to number 14), whilst 'Serious', made it to the number 20 on the Pop charts, and number 5 on the R&B charts.
The 1988 album 'Heaven On Earth' followed the debut on Oceana Records, and featured her version of the Maze evergreen 'Joy & Pain', along with the fine ballad 'Renew The Love'.'Joy & Pain' reached number 10 on the charts.
real - 1995 / precious soundtrack - 2009
In 1995 she released the single 'Real', produced by Jon Secada and Emilio Estefan, which charted and was taken from the soundtrack to the Sylvester Stallone film 'The Specialist'.
In 1999, she recorded the song 'He Is The Joy', which featured on the movie soundtrack for the film 'Precious', some ten years later on.
he's got the power - 2010
In 2010, a single entitled 'He's Got The Power' was released through Saving Souls Thru Music Productions, Inc.
