Formed in 1962, Sam and Bill comprised of:
Sam Gary (b. Columbus, South Carolina, U.S.A.)
and
Bill Johnson (b. 16th October 1932, Augusta, Georgia, U.S.A.)
later
Sam Davis (b. 10th December 1940, Winston Salem, North Carolina, U.S.A.)
Sam & Bill comprised of Bill Johnson and Sam Gary, who met in New Jersey in 1962.
Sam had his own group called the Four Steps Of Rhythm.
The duo first recorded for New York based Karate, before signing to the Joda label in 1965.

At Joda they released ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ and, the Ed Townsend penned ‘For Your Love’.
Sam Gary then left the group, and was replaced by Sam Davis.
