This U.S. group was formed in Philadelphia by the younger brothers of R & B singer Solomon Burke.

The unit comprised:

Vladimir H. 'Laddie' Burke (b. 31st July 1949, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.)

and

Elec Edward 'Alex' Burke (b. 16th February 1948, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.).

The group was completed by another set of brothers:

Earl Smith (b. 1949, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.)

and

Timmy Smith

Fleming Tinsley 'Timmy' Smith III (b. 1st February 1948, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. d. 12th May 2013, Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.A.)

The Showstoppers were a four-piece American R&B vocal soul group formed in Philadelphia in 1967.
