Valerie Simpson was the wife of Nickolas Ashford, forming the songwriting team, Ashford and Simpson.
She released two solo albums in the early Seventies, with 'Valerie Simpson' featuring the single 'Silly Wasn't I'.
Ashford and Simpson were inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002.
